FTP Accounts
Learn more about what FTP is, what it can do and what is the advantage of using multiple FTP Accounts.
FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, represents one of the most widespread methods of transferring files between a computer system and a web server. Using FTP client software such as FileZilla, you can make a connection to your hosting account and drag ‘n’ drop files or whole folders in both directions and the software will do the rest. There are several pros of employing FTP, including the possibility to resume a download/upload if there is some problem with the connection and the option to create different FTP accounts. Thanks to the latter option, you can set up FTP users that can access only certain folders in your web hosting account, but no other folders, e-mail accounts or other information, which makes it the very best solution particularly if you have to give a web designer access, for example. You can also use an FTP account with popular apps such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and upload the website content that you have created straight from them, without having to resort to third-party software.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You’ll be able to create as many FTP accounts as you need with each of the
Linux shared hosting that we are offering, because we’ve chosen not to restrict this feature. Thus, you can have multiple Internet sites at once or provide other people with access to multiple directories. Once a particular task has been fulfilled and you don’t want that individual to be able to connect to your website files anymore, you can modify the password associated with the FTP account in question or you can just remove that account with a couple of clicks of the mouse and quit worrying about anybody accessing it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is offered with all website hosting packages, will permit you to view the complete list of the active FTP accounts shown in alphabetical order. It takes only one single click of the mouse to administer various options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your websites in a
semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a separate FTP account for each of them, as we have not put a restriction on this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-work-with Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also check the complete list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, along with the folder that each one of them can access. If needed, you will be able to change the password for a given account or to change its access path with several clicks. You can also delete an account with no effort in case you do not need it any longer – for instance, if you have hired a web developer who is done with the site and you do not want them to connect to your website files any longer. For your convenience, we have prepared different how-to videos, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without any effort if you have never used a hosting package previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
The
VPS server plans that we are offering will enable you to create an unlimited number of FTP accounts to manage the content of your sites. This is valid irrespective of which VPS package you buy and which Control Panel you pick during the registration procedure – DirectAdmin, cPanel or Hepsia. In all cases, you will gain FTP access to the Virtual Private Server without installing any kind of software, as an FTP server is part of the standard software bundle that is included in the Virtual Private Server packages by default. You can set up one FTP account for every domain or subdomain that you own or even different accounts for one single folder – if you want different individuals to be able to access the website content in it with their very own personal login details. With any of the offered Control Panels, setting up, deleting or editing an FTP account requires no more than a few clicks of the mouse through an easy-to-navigate graphical interface.
