All web hosting accounts are managed via a Control Panel and whatever the type of the latter, there's always a File Manager tool, which enables you to look at the files which you have uploaded in the Internet hosting account and to execute simple operations with them, including moving, copying or deleting. With respect to the specific tool, there could be more complex features as well, such as management of permissions and archives. Many Control Panels are easier to use than others and so are their File Manager sections. Considering that this is the main tool you shall use to handle your files, it is critical to check in advance what options it includes and if it shall suit your needs, because a hard-to-use File Manager may be a burden and can make managing your web presence more challenging.
File Manager in Shared Hosting
The File Manager tool, that is part of our custom Hepsia Control Panel, allows you to administer all the files that you upload to your shared hosting account with ease. You'll be able to move files and whole folders by dragging-and-dropping them within the account. You can easily upload content in the same manner - choose a file/folder on your computer and drag it to your Internet browser where the File Manager is loaded. By right-clicking a file or a folder within your account, you can also access context menus with more complex options - you will be able to set up or to unpack an archive, to set up a password-protected area, to alter the UNIX permissions using a web interface or to change the content with various editors without ever leaving the Control Panel – an HTML editor, a plain text editor or a code editor. We've also provided help articles and educational videos, you can access straight from the File Manager to learn more about its capabilities.
File Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our File Manager tool allows you to do just about anything you require. It's an element of the Hepsia CP, which comes with all semi-dedicated server accounts and apart from the normal features such as copying, deleting or renaming files, you will be able to use right-click menus so as to access more advanced ones. With a couple of mouse clicks, you shall be able to password-protect any folder in the account, to change the UNIX permissions in case a script-based application requires it or to modify the content of any file using code, plain text and WYSIWYG editors. Additionally, you will no longer need an FTP program to upload new content as you may just drag-and-drop files and entire folders from your pc straight to the File Manager. The tool will do the rest, keeping the folder structure of the content that you upload.
